for a graduate student?
Regarding Laboratory Research . . .
In addition to:
- Being responsible to one faculty researcher
- Attending group meetings
CLiPS graduate students also:
- Interact with faculty members across CLiPS departments and institutions
- Attend CLiPS research platform meetings
- Learn about research projects in multiple CLiPS settings
Regarding Classes and teaching responsibilities . . .
in addition to:
- Attending classes prescribed by the program
CLiPS graduate students also:
- Teach the Envoys
- bright and motivated high school students
- from inner-city schools
- may be unprepared in STEM and unfamiliar with lab work
- unfamiliar with lab work
- Mentor the Envoys
- participate in a one-on-one relationship lasting 3 years
- become a role model
- serve as counselor for college and career advice
- interact in social activities as well as research related work
- Teach REU students
- undergraduates who are also bright and motivated
- but with a different level of knowledge and preparation
